When You Wish Upon A Star
At Wisdom Keepers, Inc., we don't spend our money on salaries. We spend it on our projects and the things we need to make them happen. Those things range from services like advertising, printing/copying, and relevant professional memberships to consumable goods like paper, printer ink, and craft materials to equipment like computers, cameras, and reproductions of indigenous implements to our biggest wish of all - a building where we can work, gather, and provide local opportunities on a more frequent and regular basis.
Below is our gift-in-kind "wish list." If you would like to donate an item or service listed, please contact us to arrange for pick-up/delivery and so that we can get the appropriate information for your receipt. Smaller items and gifts-in-kind donations valued at under $250 can be mailed directly to:

Consumables
Consumables are items we use up in our daily business. We are always in need of the following items. If you would like to designate a donation toward these items to avoid shipping costs, we purchase most of our consumable supplies at Office Depot or Staples, and would welcome gift cards from either supplier!

Services & Memberships:
Like anyone else, there are certain services we have to purchase and memberships that increase our ability to carry out our mission:
- Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership ($184 annually)
- Foundation Center Foundation Directory Online ($995 annually)
- Gifts-In-Kind International ($275 first year; $150/year starting third year)
- Native American Journalists Association Non-Profit & Additional Individual/Student Memberships (Non-Profit: $300. Individual: $55 each. Student (2): $20 each. Student (Highschool; 2): $10 each. All memberships are annual) specific to Tanasi Journal project)
- Printing & Copying ($1,000 annually; please call if you prefer buying services from services local to our area)
- Specialized data-storage/service providers ($2,400 annually; one of our pending projects requires use of specialized servers for data storage and delivery; this is a separate cost from and does not include regular Internet service)
Redistributable Items:
We are always looking for material goods that we can pass on to those organizations we assist through fiscal sponsorship. The following list of items is the most current needs for these organizations. The relevant organization is listed in parentheses next to the item. In most cases, items can be shipped to WKI and we will send them to the organization or you can ship them directly.
- School Supplies (NIHO - Rosebud SD) - we send donated school supplies such as pencils, crayons, safety scissors, rulers, protractors, paper (writing & construction), and school backpacks, as often as possible.
- Zone 3 Vegetable Seeds (NIHO - Rosebud SD) - seeds are used for community and family gardens.
- Hand or Power Tools (EYCIA - Oklahoma) - EYCIA is in need of hand and power tools for maintaining their cultural camp site, cutting firewood, and for cutting and preparing lodge poles. Tools needed include rakes, shovels, tools to cut/trim branches, hand saws, chain saws, circular saws, saber saws, and drills.
- Pole trailer (EYCIA - Oklahoma) - EYCIA is in need of a very special trailer that will be used to haul lodge poles. The poles are as long as 35 feet in length and up to 6 inches in diameter. They are usually moved in groups of 14 or more. If you are willing to donate a trailer that could be modified, the materials to build a custom trailer, or to build a custom trailer for them, please contact us as soon as possible.
Shipping directly to the organization:
Donations for NIHO under $250 in value can be shipped directly to the address on their web page. Donations for NIHO of $250 or more in value need to be processed by Wisdom Keepers, Inc., in order for you to receive proper documentation for your tax records.
Due to the nature of the EYCIA project and at the request of the EYCIA committee members, all donations to EYCIA need to be processed through Wisdom Keepers, Inc. - Portable Digital Audio Recording Equipment (for field use; needs to be highly sensitive to sound; prefer storage to removable media)
