Purpose & Information - What this list is:

The purpose of this list is to create a discussion forum on contemporary and traditional American Indian foods, recipes, cooking techniques, ingredients, utensils, etc. This includes relevant ingredient sources, plants, herbs, and fungi, and Native American restaurants and eateries.

The list is open to all ages and posts should be made with this in mind. It is a moderated list, meaning we are monitoring the conversation threads here for your protection and ours.

The list is moderated by Wisdom Keepers, Inc., who opened Native-Cooking-L as a service to visitors at their site. Questions about the list should be sent to Wisdom Keepers, Inc., Att: Nagi. The list is hosted by OneList.Com.

While discussions about healing remedies may and probably will take place here, this list is not a place to discuss those ailments except for what remedy is used to treat them.

This list is not a place to trace your ancestors, etc. Please save your genealogy posts for other, more relevant lists.

This list is not a political forum. Please save your alerts and news bulletins for other, more relevant lists.

Although we want you to relax, enjoy one another's company, and have fun, this list is not a "chat room." Please keep off-topic messages to a minimum. If you are unsure about a post you want to make, please send it directly to Nagi, who will make a decision and post it for you or let you know why it cannot be posted.

Rules of Use:
By subscribing to this list, you agree to abide by the following rules of use:

Off-Topic Posts - The send of an off topic post, political post, genealogy post, etc., will be sent a letter warning them that they have posted against the rules of the list. Those subscribers who have been sent two warnings for off-topic posts will be removed from the list if a third off-topic post is made within 6 months of the oldest warning.

Language, Content, etc. - Again, this list is open to all ages. Use of vulgar or obscene language or content is strictly forbidden and will result in immediate removal from the list.

Racial slurs - Just as this list is open to all ages, it is open to both native and non-native people. Racism in any form including reverse racism will not be tolerated.

Other Languages - While this list has been designated "English," it is not held strictly to that. If you want to use your own language to discuss a topic or an item in a post, please feel free but please also provide an English translation for those of us who do not speak your language. On that same note, I am not multi-lingual or even bi-lingual. If a post is made in a language other than English and I receive a complaint about the post's content as being in violation of our rules of use, I have no recourse except to accept the complaint as valid and take appropriate action.
