Creating Opportunities to Learn, Share, Lead and Live Together
"Creating opportunities to learn about indigenous cultures from indigenous peoples ... Creating opportunities for indigenous cultures to preserve their past and improve their present for a stronger tomorrow."
We see a future bright with the colors of hope. We see cultures able to share freely without fear of exploitation. We see the preservation of the best of the past to create a better tomorrow.
Mission
To create educational opportunities to learn about indigenous cultures from
verified, qualified members of those cultures; to create opportunities for those
cultures to teach, preserve, and perpetuate their traditions, values, and
skills, as well as implementing new skills that increase the ability of those
cultures to achieve self-determination; to create opportunities for mutual
respect, understanding, and friendship through cross-cultural exchanges that
address and begin the process of changing attitudes, awareness, and culturally,
historically accurate representation of those cultures in the eyes of the
dominant society.
Vision
WKI believes racism is based on the absence and suppression of culturally accurate knowledge and understanding, compounded by perpetuation of myths and stereotypes, and that racism has severely impacted the ability of indigenous cultures to realize their legal right to sovereignty and self-determination. WKI's vision is to become the leading educational organization in creating a society that is not bound by skin color, culture, religion, or gender, but by values and accomplishments judged by knowledge and understanding.

Donations
We make every attempt to provide our resources and activities at no cost or, at most, the lowest possible cost. At WKI, we do not spend our money on "administration." We are volunteer-driven with no permanent paid staff. We operate in a virtual environment to avoid the cost of an office and its related expenses. Unfortunately, there are still costs involved in producing our resources and activities. To cover those unavoidable expenses, we rely on one-time donations, supporting memberships, and gift-in-kind contributions of materials, equipment and services.
One-time donations can be made at any of the following services:
